The Meenister’s Log

At a London luncheon, the Roman Catholic Cardinal Vaughan was sitting next the chief Rabbi of England, Rabbi Adler.

“Now, Dr Adler” said the Cardinal, “when may i have the pleasure of helping you to some ham?”

The Rabbi replied straightaway, “At your Eminence’s wedding”

Rabbi Hermann Adler CVO (30 May 1839 – 18 July 1911) was the Chief Rabbi of the British Empire from 1891 to 1911.
